Did it occur to you, even for an instant, to find out if there really is going to be an alignment before asking this question?

Earlier this year, the planets were in a better alignment than they will be ANY TIME in 2012, especially December!

As to the "galactic alignment"…

1) It won’t happen in any significant way, people that say it will are lying. Or just silly.

2) If every planet lined up perfectly, with the Sun on one end and the Black Hole in the center of the Milky Way on the other… NOTHING would happen! What do you EXPECT to happen? Take a physics class… gravity doesn’t work that way and as far as I know… there are no UNKNOWN forces at work either. (and if there were… they are UNKNOWN!)

It has been mathematically proven that the planets never have and never will align.

July 18, 2010

there’s no planetary alignment in 2012

July 18, 2010

Our eight planets are not going to align in December of 2012. The planets have never fully aligned. They most likely never will. Alignment of all the planets is extremely rare.

Alignment of a few planets does happen on occasion, though. Even still, how can that make even the slightest difference in our lives? We’re always aligned with at least one planet (two points make a line).

SCIENTISTS know that the planets NEVER actually align. Their orbits prevent a perfect alignment.

2012 is a complete 100%, junk science, HOAX. Not one reputable scientist believes it. Watch the famous astronomer Neil Tyson MAKE FUN OF the 2012 hoax:…

Even NASA has a web site that debunks 2012. Read it here:…

2012 is a COMPLETE HOAX. As for the Mayans, they really knew absolutely nothing about the universe. Remember they worshiped THE SUN GOD! and regularly cut people’s heads off to please their "god".

They watched the "lights" in the sky and took good notes. Many other ancient civilizations had very accurate calendars which they used for farming and religious ceremony. They thought the world was the shell of a gigantic turtle! Good grief!

ok the planets are not going to align in 2012, it is impossible for the planets to align, the all orbit at different speeds, so it is not possible for that to happen, and there is NOT going to be a collision from "planet x", or nemesis, there is NOT going to be a gigantic solar flare, or any of that crap!!!! NONE OF THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN, DECEMBER 21, 2012 IS GOING TO BE A NORMAL REGULAR DAY JUST LIKE ANY OTHER DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so tired of hearing this question… nothing is going to happen 2012 is going to be just like any other normal year!!! Except that i will be turning 21 😀

There was a pretty close linear alignment of earth, sun and some other planets in that order in May 2000. We on Earth couldn’t see much, of course (Duh, daytime) Nothing happened then.
There will not be anything like an alignment in 2012.

July 18, 2010

Since the planets are not even close to an alignment in 2012, scientists say "What??"

July 18, 2010

there’s no specific detailed yet so we cant assumed what will happen in that year

Scientists such as Gnostradamus and Isaac Newton and Galileo and Velikovsky and Doctor Billy Graham have know for centuries, that – just like it says in the Bible – all the planets will line up at this date. That means they will all be pulling one way, with the Sun pulling the other way and the Earth in the middle. It will be a big ‘tug of war’ for planet Earth, and the gravity tidal waves will cause the continents to rear up and the Oceans to spill over the dry land. The incredible kinetic energy caused by the battle of these forces will heat the air and the rocks up, and massive earthquakes will result. The United States has 103 volcanoes, and first of all you will witness these exploding. After that, the great ‘caldera domes’ in places like Yellowstone National Park will erupt. These will flood whole states with lava. The K2 asteroid impact crater will be reopened like a big sore in the earth, and many more impacts will occur as the asteroid belt is drawn into the cosmic ‘rope’ connecting the Earth to the rest. The Second coming is certain to happen at the same time, and all will come to pass as is written.

There is no scientific evidence that the planets will align on December 2012.

There is no scientific evidence that there is going to be no Sun for weeks.

I wouldn’t count on science at the end of the day, science requires hard proof, so they wont look at what they don’t understand, they need to bridge the gap by adding metaphysics into their field of study, than things might start making sense.
here is what the mayans say, earth is moving through one of her cycles that will move us through the center of galactic alignment of the milky way, just like sinewave, there is some type of energy here that we just don’t grasp.

July 18, 2010

They don’t say much about it, because there is no such alignment.

Pick any website you want that will show the positions of the planets on a target date. Here are two good ones if you don’t want to do the search yourself:

Just enter the date you wish (you’re probably thinks December 21, 2012) and look at how "aligned" the planets will really be on that day.

The only thing that happens in 2012 is the Mayan calendar ends. Well, that’s not all, of course. Other things will happen, but there is no planetary alignment. It’s just more Y2K left-over hysteria.

It’s in the stars
Mercury will align with Mars
Well, have you ever?
What a swell party this is. " Cole Porter

It’s all part of a nefarious plot to dissuade young folk from checking the facts from legitimate sources or even to see if this question was asked before.

Do you think it has worked on you yet?

July 18, 2010

Since the planets will not all align in 2012 (they can’t all align at any time), scientists aren’t saying anything.

Scientists know where the planets will be for CENTURIES going forward, they wouldn’t suddenly "just find out" now.

The closest the planets can get to "aligning" is when they are all on the same side of the sun at the same time. But they don’t line up from our point of view, since they are all tilted to our orbit.

The last time this happened was in 1982 – did any one notice anything? Nope.

This answer is as much for the one asking the question as it is for the others answering it. The question is not so much a matter of whether the world will end, but how it will end the status quo. It’s the end of the world AS WE KNOW IT.

Many people answering this question don’t know all the details, and to tell you the truth there is more to it than can be answered in this short space. Therefore I direct you to the following website, which should answer all your questions.

Scientists say nothing astronomically important will happen in 2012.

Here is also what NASA thinks about the 2012 End of the World scenario:

If you want a bit more information on the 2012 hoax, try:

These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.

Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus’ advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

For more information, about what Catholics believe about the end of the world, see:

With love in Christ.

Um I am not sure maybe there will be no sun for like a minute or somthing. But that would be wicked awsome if all the planets did align!

July 18, 2010

Hello Ted R,

Believe it or not, the mayans never said any horrible event would happen in 2012, its just misinformation. Scientists are concerned about several events that will occur in 2012.
Mostly, the solar storm theory.
The galactic alignment on the other hand isnt of much worry to scientists because there isnt much evidence that it will cause any harm to earth.
One theory is that the alignment will cause gravitational pulls and another involves cosmic dust entering earth and the sun.

If you are more curious about 2012, I highly suggest
Hope this helps =)

maybe the planets will all slow down to a certain speed and then stop when they align
