Year 2012

What is the Myan Calender that says the world will end in 2012?

Well, i know that the world ending in 2012 sounds a bit radical. And i do believe that it would be hilarious to watch the movie 2012 in 2013. llololololololol But I am a tiny bit worried about this whole "Myan Calender rnding at 2012" thing. Who are the Myans and WTF did they say that the year 2012 was going to be the end of the world?

FLASHBACK—– this year, i forget when it was, was supposed to be the zombie appocolypse, right? That sounds rediculous, right? I didn’t have a zombie plan either way. lol i still hid a giant extra sharp knife under my bed though…

Who answers my question and is either 8-18 years old? Tell please. I’m 13, and im afraid of my imagineation no matter what time it is. And of course, my imagineation takes over my brain, and im always thinking: what If? What if it does happen? Will i die? What will happen? Thats why im scared. Sooooo someone help me please. :^)

2012 predictions….very interesting. Care to join?

2012 is claimed by some to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or apocalypse). This claim is based on Christian text, Mayan civilization or some other source. However, there is no agreement whether in 2012 there will be the end of civilization, or humanity will be elevated to a higher level, or a new human species will evolve, or some other major catastrophe will occur.[14]

Many esoteric sources[15] interpret the completion of the thirteenth B’ak’tun cycle in the Long Count of the Maya calendar (which occurs on December 21 by the most widely held correlation) to mean there will be a major change in world order.

Accordingly, several eclectic authors claim that a major, world-changing event will take place in 2012:

The 1997 book The Bible Code claims that, according to certain algorithms of the Bible code, an asteroid or comet will collide with the Earth.
The 2006 book 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl by Daniel Pinchbeck discusses theories of a possible global awakening to psychic connection by the year 2012, creating a noosphere.
Patrick Geryl predicts a pole reversal. This has happened many times in the past. Geryl also predicts that the Earth will start rotating in the opposite direction, although a geomagnetic reversal does not require the Earth to change its rotation direction. He does not explain from where the required energy will come. The Earth functions as a gigantic gyroscope. The energy required to rotate the poles would be immense.[16] Riley Martin claims that Biaviian aliens will allow passage aboard their ‘Great Mother Ship’ when the Earth is ‘transformed’ in 2012.
Other prophecies and apocalyptic writings and hypotheses for this year include:

Terence McKenna’s numerological novelty theory suggests a point of singularity in which humankind will go through a great shift in consciousness.

Will any of this be true?

The Rapture: The End. Is that REALLY what you want? Why?

The Year 2012 is only 4 years away, so we have at least that long to reconcile this.

Revelations Discribes The End.
Nastrodaumous Predicts It.
Native Americans Predict It.
Sciencentists and Astrologers are Aware Of It.
The Myan Calender Stops At About Dec. 21, 2012.

All these prophecies are coming together at once. It’s not a matter of anyone or group being right about it, they ALL see it coming! – Nuclear Holocaust.

The ground work was laid out when nuclear weapons were strategicly placed around the globe … perhaps, just a disruption of the earth as it passes the center line with the Milkey Way will set all those war heads off … in 2012. – Our own efforts to detour nuclear war, by posessing more nuclear weapons than the others, may be the distruction of us all.

Trust me, if this happens … we’re ALL going to the afterlife.

It’s not impossible. But do we need these possibilities?

Re: The year 2012. Could it signal a UFO invasion from outer space? Why all the UFO sightings?

Its said something spectular will happen in 2012. Over the years, we have been visited by UFOs. Some of them could be casing the earth out for possible invasion while others are doing the same thing, except, they will defend us against the other UFOs. They need a special time/date that holds significant meanings to us which gives no information on what will happen on that day. Bingo! The year 2012. What’s your opinion? Could this be true?

Beyond 2012 – Are you aligned with the coming era?

There are many prophecies and astrological predictions that say that the year 2012 will be the end of our current era. Many believe that 2012 onwards marks the beginning of a new kind of existence and civilization for the inhabitants of this planet call Earth.

Much has been said that beyond 2012, the world evolves towards a more spiritual civilization.
Are you aligned towards life and civilization beyond our current era? Do you believe that life into the future will be radically different from what it is now?

How true is this statement about 2012 predictions?

I saw this as an answer on a few questions. It’s from Wikipedia, and I know Wikipedia isn’t always the most reliable, so tell me what you think.

"Academic research does not indicate that the Maya attached any apocalyptic significance to the year 2012: the date for the end of their world lay unimaginable aeons of time in the future.
John Major Jenkins’s ‘Galactic alignment’ theory is based not only on a misleading astronomical claim, but in part on the same false calendrical premise.
As the Timewave Zero theory has never been published in a peer-reviewed journal and its sources and reasoning are primarily what would be considered numerological rather than mathematical, the theory has failed to gain any scientific credibility or much recognition by professional mathematicians and scientists.
Professional astronomers ridicule the Nibiru collision theory, which is based on claimed ‘channeling’ by extraterrestrials.[47][48] More academic research is needed into the claimed Hopi prophecy: it does not appear to mention the year 2012.[49] The Bible’s Book of Revelation, composed some 1900 years ago, did indeed offer a dramatic picture of the end of the world—but it also promised that it would happen ‘very soon’.[50] The Bible says nothing about 2012 or any similar date.
The prophecy of the Tiburtine Sybil, as reproduced in the 16th century, did indeed likewise present a dramatic picture of the apocalypse, but did not date it, least of all to 2012.[51] While the quatrains of Nostradamus are clearly intended to be read in a pre-apocalyptic context, they do not specifically mention (or, consequently, date) the end of the world: their Preface states that they are valid until the year 3797.[52] The so-called Lost Book of Nostradamus is a version of the anonymous Vaticinia de summis pontificibus — a book of prophetic papal emblems dating from centuries before his time – and does not mention the year 2012.
The Prophecies of Merlin were a fictional composition by the medieval Geoffrey of Monmouth,[53] amplified in 13th-century Venice, and did not mention the year 2012.[54] The original 1641 edition of The Prophecies of Mother Shipton says nothing at all about doomsday or the end of the world or, consequently, any proposed date for either.[55] The alarmist claims of imminent doom made by Sony Pictures in their fictional publicity for the forthcoming film 2012 are not supported by reputable independent academic research."

HERE IS THE MAIN ANSWER:
* Academic research does not indicate that the Maya attached any apocalyptic significance to the year 2012: the date for the end of their world lay unimaginable aeons of time in the future.

2012 isnt the end of the world.
