2012..does it end like this?

Visit signifies.net for fascinating blogs on astronomy contributed by authors with rare talent. 23 March 2002 Using the Hubble Space Telescope, for the first time, astronomers have observed the atmosphere of an extrasolar planet evaporating off into space. Much of this planet may eventually disappear, leaving only a dense core. The planet is a type of extrasolar planet known as a ‘hot Jupiter’. These giant, gaseous planets orbit their stars very closely, drawn to them like moths to a flame. This programme tells of the astronomers findings and includes graphic animations of the Hubble Space Telescope.

2012 Nissan GT-R

DSPORT Magazine: 2012 Nissan GT-R If you own a Porsche 911 Turbo, Corvette ZR1, R32/R33/R34 Skyline GT-R or just about any of the six-figure European exotics, prepare to be pissed off. Japan’s reigning mass-production supercar, just got better. How much better? Let’s just say that even owners of ’09, ’10 and ’11 GT-Rs are likely to be envious of the major improvements from the minor-change 2012 Nissan GT-R. Kazutoshi Mizuno, the Chief Vehicle Engineer and Chief Vehicle Specialist for the R35 GT-R, said it would take about three years to fulfill the promise of making the R35 GT-R a worldclass supercar after the first R35s rolled off the assembly line in late 2007. With the 2012 Nissan GT-R, Mizuno-san has lived up to his promise with the 2012 Nissan GT-R. For the special-invitation long-lead on the 2012 Nissan GT-R, Nissan outdid itself by selecting the most incredible driving routes ever for a street evaluation. Starting from the coast and blazing through the canyons of Central California we experienced a smorgasbord of road types. There was everything from wide-open mile-long straights to the edge-of-the-cliff, “ohshit- we’re-going-too-fast” off-camber drop outs. Despite the significant weight of the GT-R, it negotiated any challenge pointed in its way. The additional power and improved power curve delivered more reactive throttle response. In the earlier R35 GT-Rs, the lag of the drive-by-wire controls made the vehicle respond as if the control system had overdosed on

Woman’s Building History: Sisters of Survival (Otis College)

Sisters Of Survival (SOS) is a collaborative performance art group founded in 1981 by Nancy Angelo, Jerri Allyn, Anne Gauldin, Cheri Gaulke and Sue Maberry. Focusing on anti-nuclear issues, SOS initiated End of the Rainbow, a three-part project including a European tour in Spring 1983. SOS also produced a media performance (Shovel Defense), an artists’ book (Sisters Of Survival’s Memento Mori), a billboard (Something is Clouding Your Future), and other theatrical and participatory performances. Thisvideo was commissioned by Otis College of Art and Design for the exhibition “Doin’ It in Public: Feminism and Art at the Woman’s Building” (1973-1991) in the Ben Maltz Gallery, October 1 January 28, 2012 and is part of an ongoing series of oral histories about the Woman’s Building partially funded by the Getty Foundation. The exhibition is part of a “Pacific Standard Time: Art in LA1945-1980,” an unprecedented collaboration of more than fifty cultural institutions across Southern California, which are coming together to tell the story of the birth of the LA art scene. Initiated through grants from the Getty Foundation, Pacific Standard Time will take place for six months beginning October 2011.
