The end of the world… 4000 years of prophecy…?

The sacred Aztec calendar is properly called the Eagle Bowl. The amazingly accurate calendar has been in use in various forms for more than 2,000 years.

In the mythology of the Aztecs, the first age of mankind ended with the animals devouring humans. The second age was finished by wind, the third by fire, and the fourth by water. The present fifth epoch is called Nahui-Olin (Sun of Earthquake), which began in 3113 BC and will end on December 12, 2012. It will be the last destruction of human existence on Earth.

The date coincides with “the end of history” listed on the ancient Chinese oracle-calendar, the I Ching. (Dec 12, 2012)

The Mayan calendar is divided into Seven Ages of Man. The Mayan calendar comes to an end on Sunday, December 12, 2012. Only a few people will survive the catastrophe that ensues.

So… independently we have the Aztecs, the Chinese, the Mayans, Nostrodamis all saying the same date…

What are your opinions? Coincidence or more?
Just for the record though… I place no credibility in this one way or the other. I just think it’s interesting. A coworker was babbling about this today and I googled it… Since I had nothing "deeper" to ask I thought i’d run with this.

Please, please, answer this! I need a title for my story!!!?

This is the summary, yeah i know it’s kinda long:

It’s the year 2020, and the world is in ruins. After December 12, 2012, when the world’s natural order was destroyed, people have een kept under one, strict, all-powerful, dictator government. Many people died in 2012, and those that survived looked at life with new meaning. With so few people left, the monsters in the world were exposed: vampires, werewolves, sirens, witches, and wizards are outlawed and frequently hunted down and put to death. It’s the year 2020, and the world is one step away from medieval.
In all this madness, Owen Cooke, the son of two monster-hunters, meets a mysterious young girl with blonde hair so light it’s nearly white, and eyes grayer than fog. Her name is Luna, and from the moment they meet, she lures him in, and he soon finds himself falling in love with her. But every full moon, she disappears, not to be seen until the night after the next, though other than that, the two meet every night.
So far, Owen has kept Luna a secret from everyone, especially his parents. But with each full moon disappearance, he wonders if he should tell them of her. Soon, though, he realizes that were he to tell, he would be as good as killing her himself.

Any suggestions for a title? And tell me what u think of the story (summary) too, pleez. Thanks so much in advance!!!
These are some titles I;ve thought of and am iffy about:
Cursed Love
The Moon’s Prisoner
Eyes like the Moon
Hate Me, Love You
Save Me
By the Light of the Moon
If I Could

Do you really think the world will end in 2012?

Some people say the world will end on December 12, 2012 (12/12/12). I really think it’s nonsense because I heard the same thing was thought in 2000 and we’re still here. Do you think the world will end in 2012? And where did both of these rumors (the world ending in 2000 and the world ending in 2012) even start?

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011 2012 Prophecies 24 Comments

I’ve asked this before, but I’ll ask it again.. why do people blather on so ignorantly about 12/12/12?

Okay people, its really annoying when someone asks a question about the Mayan 2012 prophecy and you get a bunch of people spouting off saying various idiocies such as:

1. The mayans arbitrarily picked that date for the end of the world

2. the mayans were destroyed before they could finish their calender

3. the media invented it

4. it’s a misinterpretation of mayan beliefs

and others. PEOPLE COME ON. Okay, I’m sure you could find an more academic summary than mine, but to put it as simply as I can:

Though primitive in many ways, it could be said that the Mayans were even more advanced than we are in terms of astrological science. Since they believed the sun to be a god, they studied the skies extensively and made many remarkable discoveries and predictions. On December 12, 2012, an actual astrological event WILL occur that has not occurred since 4000 BC, I believe (not the exact year)

HOWEVER, the idea that this astrological event will bring about the end of the world is a purely religious idea on the part of the mayans and has no basis in science.

So.. there.

Is this commercial FOR REAL?! Is the world REALLY GOING TO END?!?

I just saw a commercial for theihc.com (Institute for Human Continuation) What the heck!? They said the world IS GOING to end on December 12, 2012. I went to their website (theihc.com) and its a real website. They are holding a lottery for human survival, you put in your information and they send you a ticket in the mail, if you get the right numbers or something you get picked to go into an underground vault or something to survive. They are also holding elections (within themselves) for who will lead the people when this happens. I’ve seen this commercial multiple times on multiple stations. If it wasn’t real why would they pay to repeat it so much? AND WHY would the TV stations let it be played? Couldn’t a commercial like that cause public panic or something? WTF?
