If the world is NOT going to end, why are stores already selling 2012 calendars at 20% off?

Yesterday, January 2nd 2012, I walk into my favorite bookstore and they’re selling 2012 calendars marked down by 20%.

I don’t usually see current year calendars marked down until July and then it’s only about 15%.

Why is it always 2012?

Everything seems related to armageddon or 2012! global warming, increased seismic activity, myan and incan calendars, solar flares whatever else. even aliens seem to have something to do with it all. my husband believes most of it and i don’t. all coincidence? or is the world over next year??

Do you think the Majas warnings for 21st Dec 2012 will be correct or is it all a bunch of banter?

Am you see Maya’s had an extremely complicated method of keeping track of time, based on three separate calendars. The most important, most encompassing of these calendars holds the `Long Count’: the period from the beginning until the end of time. And on December 21st 2012, the Long Count expires..

Plus i just saw 2012 and im scared now :'(

Who believes in the Orion Prophecy and it's link to the "End of Days"?

According to Mayan and Egyptian writings and calendars, the world has shifted it’s magnetic poles in response to a number of cosmic influences, every 23,000 years. The next E.L.E. (extinction level event) will ocurr on or near the Winter Solstice of 2012. I for one hope it happens as mankind has forgotten why he is here, so I pray daily for massive genocide at the hands of Nature.

How can I calculate which calendar year that 2012 and 2013 are repeating?

I found out how to calculate future years, I want to go backwards so I can go find older calendars to use for future years.

Why were Mayans so short in physical stature?

The tops of the heads of most Mayans today in the Yucatan come up to the breast-bones of most Americans.

The Mayan calendar ends in 2012, whereas the calendars of taller people go much further into the future.

Does this suggest the Mayan Gods will only end the world for people of short stature in 2012, while other parts of the world where taller people reside will survive until their own calendars run out?

Is it more likely that in 2012 flatulence rather than the end of the world will come to pass?

The Mayan civilization died out some years ago, I don’t know if they’re a reliable source.

I mean the Japanese survived two freakin’ nuclear bombs and they’re still around, usurping our children’s brains with PS3 and Wii and Pokemon and chunky girls playing Cosplay dress-up games.

The Mayans? They’ve kinda jumped the shark, what good are their silly calendars where they ran outta numbers for January 1, 2013 and beyond.
