ages of man

The end of the world… 4000 years of prophecy…?

The sacred Aztec calendar is properly called the Eagle Bowl. The amazingly accurate calendar has been in use in various forms for more than 2,000 years.

In the mythology of the Aztecs, the first age of mankind ended with the animals devouring humans. The second age was finished by wind, the third by fire, and the fourth by water. The present fifth epoch is called Nahui-Olin (Sun of Earthquake), which began in 3113 BC and will end on December 12, 2012. It will be the last destruction of human existence on Earth.

The date coincides with “the end of history” listed on the ancient Chinese oracle-calendar, the I Ching. (Dec 12, 2012)

The Mayan calendar is divided into Seven Ages of Man. The Mayan calendar comes to an end on Sunday, December 12, 2012. Only a few people will survive the catastrophe that ensues.

So… independently we have the Aztecs, the Chinese, the Mayans, Nostrodamis all saying the same date…

What are your opinions? Coincidence or more?
Just for the record though… I place no credibility in this one way or the other. I just think it’s interesting. A coworker was babbling about this today and I googled it… Since I had nothing "deeper" to ask I thought i’d run with this.

Do you really believe that 2012 is the last year for humans?

When people think about their future, they wonder what achievements they will make in years to come. However, not many people are convinced that their futures will live beyond the year 2012. With many current events and religious prophecies made in the past, the world is questioning if our world is really coming to an end.

The Mayan calendar is divided into Seven Ages of Man. The fourth epoch ended in August 1987. “Part of the 2012 mystique stems from the stars. On the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in about 26,000 years. This means that whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time, journalist Lawrence Joseph writes. However, Susan Milbrath, a Maya archaeoastronomer, states we have no record or knowledge that they would think the world would come to an end at that point.

According to the Catholic religion, pope St. Malachi predicted the names of each of the 112 popes until the last one. The 110th pope, John Paul died in 2005. The pope also said that when the 112th pope is elected, the city of Rome would be destroyed. Emphasis on the 112th being mentioned as the LAST pope, right now the Catholic church is ruled by its 111th pope. It was also stated that when the 112th pope was elected, the city of Rome would be destroyed.

Another coincidence that leads many to believe that doomsday is just less then 5 years away is the Battle of Armageddon, which is Christian religious. The battle of Armageddon is known as the final battle between God and the devil, along with all of the people on earth that the devil tricked and inspired to go against the Holy God. Wars are said to take place in cities such as Jerusalem and Israel involving the rest of the world. According to the Jehovah Witnesses and some other religions, God is said to end this war against them by striking them with pestilence, floods, hailstones, fire and sulphur. There is already war taking place in Israel, the Holy land, Holy meaning peace. Could violence in peaceful land be another coincidence? And in the Book of Revelations, it was stated that Rome was going to be destroyed during the battle of Armageddon. Surprisingly, the Christians and Catholics, two different religions, both state that Rome would be destroyed around 2012, which the Mayans said would be our last year to live.

Many more phenomena’s lead to the predictions that 2012 is our last year on earth. Honey bees are said to be one of human’s main need for survival, simply because they pollinate many flowers. Honey bees are mysteriously dying off and their numbers are greatly decreasing across 30 American states. Einstein, one of the most well known scientists, was an Atheist, meaning he didn’t believe in God. He mentioned before that without honey bees, the human race will not survive. According to the bible, it was also mentioned that without the honey bees, humans can not exist. So does this rapid decrease in honey bees across America, also known as Colony Collapse Disorder, also contribute to the question of the world ending in 2012? Experts say that if this mysterious decline in honey bees continues within another year, many farms and honey companies would go bankrupt, causing even more chaos in America.

So many different religions or groups of people claim that the world is already starting to end. This confuses me,. and of course I’m not agreeing with it or disagreeing with these rumors. But what if it could be true, although people claimed the world would end in 2000 and 6/6/06?

What do you think? Write as much as you want. Lol

Can you clear this up for me(2012 prophecy)?

I read that in the Aztec calendar(possibly a different culture, but maybe they just mistakenly wrote that instead of Mayan) there are three intricately designed rings, and that the people had a very advanced understanding of astronomy. I heard that there were different ages of man. There were the people of corn, the people of fire, and the people of something else, but we’re the people of mud. Supposedly on December 12th, 2012, the rings line up to say that our kind dies out and the people of water come in. Also, the sun and everything are all aligned or something… That’s probably packed with mistakes, but correct me if I’m wrong with anything. Not that I think this will or won’t happen(I believe it’s a possibility, but nothing too strongly one way or another) but I think this topic is absolutely facinating. If you know more about this theory, please explain.

Also, in biology, while taking notes on the different eras, our teacher pointed out to us that at the end of each, there was a mass extinction. Could 2012 be it? (cue the "dun-dun-dun-DUN music). Also, can you please explain in easy to understand terms? I’m only 14 🙂 Thanks in advance!
I’m not saying I believe in 2012. I think it’s interesting. I don’t believe in the bible, but I find that interesting as well. Just like any fiction book I’ve read, and every fiction movie I’ve seen.
