Is the 2012 END OF THE WORLD going to happen?

I’m sitting here here, 16 years old, and scared to death about this! Can anybody debunk this?!

I was watching tv and there was an IHC commercial saying that there is a human lottery to see who is going to survive. What the hell!?

Oh for god’s sake. You are almost an adult and yet you can’t tell the difference between a thinly-veiled trailer for a movie and a real life. I wonder what they teach kids at school these days.

what you saw was a very elaborate and awesome commercial for the new movie 2012 (this film is not yet rated). That’s all there is to it.

Hmm.. depends if you believe in a religion, in Christian faith there are specific things that have to happen first, so thats how I know the world won’t end at least tomorrow. lol

Think a minute. Do you really think if there was a scientific prediction of the end of the world, you’d hear about it in a commercial?

Here’s the IHC website.
http://www.instituteforhumancontinuity.org/

Scroll down to the bottom. Read the stuff about "copyright Sony" and "enjoy the 2012 movie experience" and "no purchase necessary to participate in contest". Does that sound real to you?

Here’s another IHC website:
http://www.whowillsurvive2012.com/

Does that really look like something advertising a real life event to you?

I haven’t seen this commercial and it sounds like they’re trying to make it sound real. But even so there are legal limits. Their lawyers would want to be careful. So I imagine if you watch the commercial again more carefully, you’ll see something somewhere, perhaps in small print at the end, that says "Sony Entertainment" or something along those lines.

The Institute for Human Continuity website has been set up by Sony Pictures to advertise the film ‘2012’. In reality, there is no such thing as the IHC. Putting people in fear of their lives is apparently OK if you’re a movie publicist. Rest assured that the whole 2012 thing is a bunch of baloney, without a single scrap of scientific evidence to back it up.

The world will not end in 2012. The IHC is a promotion for a FICTIONAL HOLLYWOOD MOVIE. Try not to be so gullible, please.

16, huh?

In two years, you can vote.

Make sure you stay in school and take it seriously. I want to see Government classes and Science classes on your transcript or NO COLLEGE for you!

Practice saying "Want fries with that?"

The IHC is a commercial for a movie. They really aren’t trying to hide this fact from you. You need to keep your eyes open and pay attention.

16, huh? You can drive, now, right?

Yes, it will start with magnetic pole reversal, communication failure, famine, but end in a nuclear war.

The IHC commercial is a fake lottery promoting the garbage movie "2012" due out in several weeks.

I looked into this a while ago. All the evidence from Mayan calendars to galactic alignments is superstition like astrology or numerology and galactic alignments which are either totally false or happened ten years ago and had no effect on us anyway.

There is no reason to expect anything much in December 2012. It’s all a scam for money.

There will be no year 2012.

ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE, JUDGMENT DAY

"The Lord has opened up His people’s understanding to the
“Biblical calendar” found on the pages of the Bible.

The genealogies of the book of Genesis, primarily in
chapters 5 and 11, can be shown to be a precise calendar
of the history of mankind in this world. The Bible’s calendar
of history is completely accurate and trustworthy.

Since this Bible calendar is given by God in His Word,
it can be trusted wholeheartedly."

The Mayan Doomsday Prophecy is purely based on a calendar which we believe hasn’t been designed to calculate dates beyond 2012. Mayan archaeo-astronomers are even in debate as to whether the Long Count is designed to be reset to 0.0.0.0.0 after 13.0.0.0.0, or whether the calendar simply continues to 20.0.0.0.0 (approximately 8000 AD) and then reset. As Karl Kruszelnicki brilliantly writes:

"…when a calendar comes to the end of a cycle, it just rolls over into the next cycle. In our Western society, every year 31 December is followed, not by the End of the World, but by 1 January. So 13.0.0.0.0 in the Mayan calendar will be followed by 0.0.0.0.1 – or good-ol’ 22 December 2012, with only a few shopping days left to Christmas." – Excerpt from Dr Karl’s "Great Moments in Science".
