No,and i have a some mayan blood too,so it’s kind of funny that i come from those people who made that calender a long time ago and i’m freaked out about it.but it scares me.The idea of being alive when the word ends.but i think people would take it more seriously if it was real,I mean come on they made a movie out of. i’m not watching that movie until 2013,hahaha.I don’t believe it at all.I think my sister said something is going to happen with the stars that day,but i don’t remember exacty what she was talking about.hahaha.

This question has been asked about 10,000 times and the answer is still the same. Nothing is going to happen on December 21, 2012. If you believe that date will be the end of time, what are you doing asking this in the Mythology and Folklore category?

File this with the same fallacy that said the world would end on January 1, 2001.

I believe that the long count cycle of the Mayan calendar rolls over in 2012. I don’t use the Mayan calendar, I use the Gregorian one, so that is of no significance to me.

Of course I believe in 2012. It comes right after 2011. If you’re referring to the scheduled "doomsday", however, then no and anyone who does is a sorry person indeed.

If you don’t believe in it you’re insane!

We’ve been able to predict things in space for a long time. We know exactly when an eclipse will happen among lot’s of other things.

If you mean all that "end of the world stuff", that’s different.

But we do know that our solar system rotates on an ellipse that brings our solar system closer and further from the center of the galaxy. In other words, according to the Mayans, our Sun and all of its planets rotate in cycles in relation to the center of the galaxy or Hunab-Kú, the central light of the galaxy. It takes 25,625 years for our solar system to make one cycle on this ellipse. One complete cycle is called a galactic day.

On Dec 21, 2012 somethings happening that only happens only once every 25,625 years!!! That we DO know. What else happens I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

the mayan calendar stops at 2012, which symbolizes the end of the pisces age.

what’s there to believe? it’s a FACT that there was once a tribe of people occupying the yucatan and they DID use a calander. i’ve seen one. it’s a circle of rings. what you’re wondering to believe is what MODERN day people have told you and that’s how they’ve decided to interpret it. so really, what you should be asking is ‘do you believe in the way these ‘experts’ have decided to interpret the dresden codex?’

end of the world? no.
but i had a professor that had a good friend who was a professor who specialized in mayan history and all that good stuff, and she said that it was actually supposed to be the beginning of the new age in the history of man. the age of peace. hey, if 2012 will get us out of Iraq, bring it on. that’s something i can believe in.
