Benefits Of 550 Paracord In The Wild

Rope has so many uses in the outdoors. Some cord is better for survival than others. Military 550 cord tops them all in my opinion. This video will show and explain why. It’s versitile, light weight, extremely durable, strong(550lbs.), and the interior threads can be taken out and used for smaller tasks. For Survival it’s your best choice. Also good for camping, hiking, backpacking, hunting, and even general everyday use.

Thanks for the vid, Ryan. On your advice, I bought some. I could have done with it in French forests over the past ten days but better late than never. For fellow Limies out there, the real McCoy 550 is available at sales@thebushcraftstore.co.uk. I got it today, disassembled a sample and it’s true to form nylon 7 strand internal and you can eventually break it down to filaments thinner than a human hair. 50ft for £3.98 shipping included, and any weird colour you like, if you don’t go for olive!

There are 3 types of paracord there is the crap kind Wich he showed then there is the good kind wich he showed then there is paracord that looks like it is braided but it’s like 2 times thicker than regular cord wich is the best but it didn’t have the interior strands.

nice, but how strong are the interior strings?

Just for your info, there is actually 14 interior strands. The 7 strands are double twist, so theres even more bang for your buck. Next to duct tape, this is man’s greatest invention.

I was thinking it would be cool to wrap the grip of my pistol with some sort of 550 cord pattern. Does anyone know if this has been done before or if its possible/bad idea? I was going to take off the wooden side panels on the revolver and then wrap it in 550. What do you think?

The easiest and cheapest way to get good paracord is to go to any AAFES store.

Tech tip for making videos:
Never shoot against your light source. This will cause the aperture in your camera to shrink, meaning the video image will come out too dark and create way too much contrast. Instead, place your source next to you or behind you so that it casts light in the same direction as your eyes.

Also, try to avoid incandescent light bulbs as they make everything look way too yellow. Try fluorescent light instead, the video image may come out greenish but it looks better!
