Abolish the Federal Reserve – Wayne Allyn Root for President 2012

Wayne Allyn Root encourages a return to the gold standard. He is running for president in 2012 on a message of social and economic individual freedom. Root wants to abolish the federal reserve, and return the USA to the gold standard. Figuratively, he wants to raid the Federal Reserve Plantation, and free all of its enslaved subjects. …But is that a good analogy? Well, think about it. Let’s say a plantation owner has a bunch of slaves, and he treats them well, and allows them to travel. But he pays them in paper money that he prints, and they are not allowed use any other currency. At first, the currency buys them enough to eat in town, but gradually, so much of it is printed that it no longer buys adequate food. So they start trading with silver coins, like the smartest people in the market. When the plantation owner finds out, he steals their coins, and imprisons the people who made them, who were other slaves. So all the slaves are being paid in paper that loses its value. They are expected to save up for their retirement with this paper. …That is our exact situation today, in the USA, with the “legal tender” laws. The Liberty dollar was recently raided in 2007, for minting silver coins, and stating that they were valid currency. Wayne is a smart slave on this plantation. He has woken up to the fact that paper money = serfdom. (Just as it always has, since the first central bank in 1694, in England) And Wayne is a big slave who is willing to challenge the

I think it’s wonderful that America has a citizen as ‘enthusiastic’ about our country as Wayne Allyn Root is!!!

I’m very glad that he wants to be the Libertarian Party’s nominee for President of the United States in 2012!!! With his business experience and personality, he would give America ‘dynamic’ leadership!!!!!

I like Root, but don’t think he has the necessary gravitas/dignity to be elected President.

Root has awesome insights into solving America’s economic problems but if he becomes president, how will he be able to deal with international affairs? That’s what i wish to know :)

Root just might be the Libertarian Ross Perot. What I want done. Is him to run on the Republican ticket, but if they treat him unfairly like Ron Paul he runs as a Libertarian to punish the GOP.

Here’s my thought- Mitt Romney is the Republican ticket in 2012. If the treat HIM unfairly, it’ll be another 2008. Wayne Allen Root is the dramatic change we need but I don’t think enough people see it. He needs to be balanced. Romney/Root in 2012? Could it work? I would love to see the debates. Obama/Biden would be ripped apart.

root is a nutjob.. he wants ‘small government’ ? so he can fiscally take advantage of you and then YOU have no protections or recourse.. he wants to deregulate the companies that run our food, water & electricity then lower their taxes so we can’t maintain highways and america’s infrastructure?! all in the guise of ‘liberty’? how stupid do you think we are ?

Going to a gold standard is very unlibertarian; allowing currency competition is very libertarian. If the Liberty Dollar were legalized, the Fed would not need to be abolished because it would go out of business.

@BikiniBabe1985 No real argument there. Fiat currency unbacked by gold is less libertarian than competing currencies. I can agree in the area of objective reality, even if I disagree in the area of subjective value, or my personal beliefs about the nature of reality, had the currency always been gold backed. If that were the case, I doubt we’d feel the need to have this conversation, because our currency would be dominant and in no danger, worldwide. But you’re fundamentally right.

BikiniBabe1985

@libertarianjury The problem with implementing a gold standard, as Ron Paul has come around to recognizing, is that it forces everyone to abide by that standard (an unnatural monopoly). That is the same problem as the federal reserve’s monopoly on our currency, by force. I don’t know if you have had the chance to see Ron Paul’s currency competition idea, but it is a convincing argument that the Federal Reserve will naturally go out of business and a specie standard will naturally form.

It seems like a pipedream at this point, but then again so did Rand Paul’s candidacy for the U.S. Senate. And so did Ron Paul’s audit the Fed bill, which got about 320 co-sponsors in the House before being watered down by the worthless U.S. Senate. For the first time in my lifetime, libertarian ideas and candidates are being taken seriously.

BikiniBabe1985
May 19, 2010

@cpblackangel88 What made Ross Perot a viable candidate was that fact that he was a billionaire who could self-finance his own campaign. Root does not have that luxury
